William "Bill" Sherman Rowland Jr, 88, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Bill was born on Wednesday, June 23, 1937 in Newton, Kansas to William Sherman Sr. and Irene Clara (Wetschensky) Rowland.

Bill grew up in the Newton/Furley and Butler County area. He attended Whitewater grade school and graduated from Towanda high school in 1957.

Bill was united in marriage to Ramona "Mona" Sue McDaniel on July 12, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. They were married for 67 and a half years until Bill's passing.

Bill worked multiple places in his lifetime, including Morris—Citrin Oilfield, Flint Rig, C&S Well Services, and finally Butler County Highway Department for 22 years. He retired from the Highway department on July 1, 1999. Upon retiring Bill and Mona moved to Interlachen, Florida for almost 15 years, before returning to the Augusta/Leon, Kansas area in 2013.

Bill's favorite things were fishing, hunting, tinkering around in his garage, going to auctions, being onery, and spending time with family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mona; sons, Monty (Angie) Rowland and Gerald (Juliann) Rowland; grandchildren, Tanner Rowland, Wyatt (Lennette) Rowland, Kyler (Kellyn Modlin) Rowland, Hunter Rowland, Sunny Rowland, and Janet Rowland-Hill; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and beloved pets, Sam and Rocky.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Park Rowland and Robert Rowland; and sister, Karen Rowland.

Celebration of Life will be Monday, February 16th from 5-7 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
