William Delmer Blandin, 91, of Augusta, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010.
William was born in Augusta, Kansas on April 18, 1919 to William Floyd Blandin and Ina Mae Stinson Blandin. William attended Augusta schools, graduating in 1936 after which he attended El Dorado Junior College. He served his country during World War II seeing action with the Army in the South Pacific Theatre and obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He followed in his father's footsteps, working in the oilfields of Kansas and Nebraska. He retired from Cities Service Oil Company, having worked in the Sterling, Great Bend, and Manhattan areas. He enjoyed working in the American Legion, serving in many capacities.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Minerva Pauline Testerman Blandin for 59 years before her death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Donald, and two sisters, Viola Blandin and Mary Blandin Darrah.
William is survived by his two sons, James William and his wife Barbara of Denver, Colorado and Larry Eugene and his wife Lana of Leavenworth, Kansas. William is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister Lois Blandin Buell Hilton of McPherson, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, 521 East 12th Street in Augusta on Monday, September 20, at 1:30 p.m. Guests are asked to please use the 12th Street entrance.
