Shafer, Willard Lavern, 75, retired construction superintendent, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010.

Willard was born February 22, 1935, to Donald and Kathryn (Volz) Shafer in Falls City, Nebraska. He married Betty Louise White on July 3, 1952, in Wichita. He was a construction superintendent for Builders, Inc. and later Walz, Harmon & Huffman from where he retired.

Survivors include his son and his wife W.L. and Kerri Shafer, II of Augusta; daughters and their spouses Kay and Bill Woodruff of Wichita, Cindy and Randy Struble of Derby and Donna Stang of Wichita; a son-in-law Michael Furlow of Augusta; a sister and her husband Donna and Archie Price of Grove, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and a daughter Debbie Furlow.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, from 5:30-7:30 at the funeral home. Funeral service, Friday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church, 2900 North Rock Road, Wichita.
Interment in Andover Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

Memorials have been established with Central Christian Church or Comfort Care Homes in care of the funeral home.
