El Dorado - Vernon Richard Brant, 79, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Vernon was born on November 2, 1936, to Theodore Joseph and Veda Collis (Talmadge) Brant in Wichita, Kansas. Vernon married Peggy Luetta Stotts on April 10, 2004. Vernon had worked for the City of Augusta for 23 years, retiring in November of 1998. Vernon was loved and cared for by everyone. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Vernon always walked away with a special place in their heart for him.

Vernon is survived by his wife Peggy; daughters Bonnie Chriestenson and husband Bill of Ashdown, AR, Darlene Thompson and husband Kenny of Sedalia, MO, Rena Welch and husband Terry of Augusta, KS; son Charles Hurley and wife Reda of Mullinville, KS; brother Bobby Brant of Garden City, KS; 20 grandchildren; and numerous Great and Great-great grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Ruby Brant, brother Kenneth Brant, daughter Martha Albert, 1 granddaughter and 2 great-grandsons.

Family Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Shryock Park on the City Lake, located on N. Ohio St in Augusta, KS.
