Clingingsmith, Velna "Lucille" "Luke" (Hutchison) Nelson, 89, passed away, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Lakepoint of Augusta.

She worked as an administrative assistant in the home appliance, home construction and contracting industry. After retirement she worked part-time at the Augusta Historical Museum.

"Luke" was born on July 13, 1920 in Ringwood, Oklahoma to Joseph and Hazel (Wiggins) Hutchison. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1938. Lucille married Ross M. Nelson, formerly of St. John, Kansas in 1940. They resided in Augusta and had three sons Lloyd Ross, Jack O'Byrne and Craig Philip. In 1964 Lucille married Virgil E. Clingingsmith and resided in Wichita until their retirement and then relocated to Augusta.

Survivors include her sons Lloyd Nelson of Augusta, Phil (Kate) Nelson of Arlington, Texas; sisters Peggy Nofsinger of Wichita, Eileen Holdaway of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren Jack O. (Stephanie) Nelson of Augusta, Shannon (Brian) Bedford of Santa Maria, California, Kelly (Scott) Feille of Fort Worth, Texas, Zachary (Megan) Nelson of Middletown, Ohio, Sarah Nelson of Middletown, Ohio, Reed J. Nelson of Whittier, California and Amanda Nelson of Redlands, California; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouses and son Jack O. Nelson. Private family service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Christ Lutheran Church, 1500 Cron, Augusta, Kansas 67010 or in care of the funeral home.
