Roscoe "Gene" Dennett, 83, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Gene was born on Wednesday, July 22, 1942 in Newton, Kansas to Roscoe E. and Betty L. (Phillips) Dennett.

Gene was united in marriage to Carol Jean Hollingsworth on November 13, 1982. They were married for 43 years until Gene's passing.

Gene worked as a equipment mover in road repair at Dustrol and at Knebler Construction for many years.

Gene lived a simple life and each day one day at a time.

Gene is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Sherri Divine and husband Chris; son, Bob Dennett; daughter, Terri Rawlings and husband Mike; son, Curt Benton and wife Arleen; son, Mitch Benton and wife Kathy; and daughter, Michelle Locey and husband Bryan; brother, David and wife Sue Dennett; and brother, Gary and wife Jeanne Dennett.

Gene did not care for or understand the term "in-law". He said, "I am blessed with 6 sons and 5 daughters. Blessings come in small packages as a multitude of Grands and Great-Grands."

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Franks.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 10 a.m. at GracePointe Church in Augusta. Gene's request was that everyone attend the funeral in jeans, no dressing up.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to GracePointe Church, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
