Mar 5, 1922 — Apr 1, 2021
Towanda
Towanda – Roberta Arlene Bartleson, 99, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Roberta Arlene Hill was born on Sunday, March 5, 1922 in Achilles, Kansas to Hervie M. and Indiana (Johnston) Hill. She already had 2 brothers and 1 sister when she was born on the farm in Achilles. She attended Achilles Elementary School grades 1-12 in a one room school house and spent her growing up days on the family farm learning how to garden and deal with farm animal life alongside her parents. She met the love of her life Harold Burke Bartleson when he was driving a greyhound bus and they were married at the court house in 1942. They eventually made their home in Andover, Kansas and started attending Central Baptist Church where they both accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. She attended to the flowers exclusively for Central Baptist as well as raising a huge garden and orchard at home while sharing with her neighbors. Gardening was such a passion of Roberta's that after many years at Southwestern Bell/AT&T she dedicated her retirement to gardening at Botanical Gardens of Wichita, Kansas.
She leaves behind 2 daughters; Judith A. Buchanan (Bartleson) of Towanda, Kansas and Janet Elliott (Bartleson) of Eugene, Oregon. Roberta was blessed with 6 grandkids; Echo Wilson (Darryl) of El Dorado, Kansas, Burke Buchanan (Nancy) of New Jersey, Gretchen Adu-Gyamfi (Victor) of Ohio, Eli Buchanan (Cristina) of Junction City, Kansas and Amanda Elliott of Eugene, Oregon; 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her husband of 45 years, her granddaughter Talli Buchanan, two brothers, two sisters and her son-in-law David Buchanan.
She is the last of her family to go to glory to be with her savior. What a welcoming she had when she saw her whole family waiting to welcome her into Heaven!
