Robert Myrl Butler, 95, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014.
Robert was born January 21, 1919, to William And Lucy ( Ray) Butler in Eureka, Kansas. He graduated from High School in rural Eureka, Kansas in 1938. He was united in marriage to Billie Alice Pierce on August 23, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. Robert served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. Robert later worked as a construction superintendent for Mobile Pipeline, he was a gun collector and enjoyed gunsmithing.
His survivors include his son Bob Butler of Augusta, Kansas; nephews, Jack and wife Ernestine Russell of Andover: Arnold Nickels of Eureka, Kansas: Elsie Nickels of Eureka, Kansas: Charles and wife Shirley Langloys of Wichita, Kansas, Jerry and wife Carol Nickels of Ponca City, Oklahoma and niece Vickie Nickels of Eureka, Kansas.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Billie, sister Wilma Nickels and brother Shirley Russell.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, from 1-8 p.m. with family being present from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery using the 12th street entrance.
Memorials have been established with the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
