Robert Eugene Miller of Blanco, Texas, formerly of Augusta, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012. He was born May 12, 1928, to Clarence and Lillian Miller in Augusta, Kansas.
Bob graduated from Augusta High School in 1946, and then served in the U.S. Army for two years. He married Venita Feemster on September 3, 1948, in Eugene, Oregon. Mr. Miller was retired, but had formerly worked at the Mobil refinery in Augusta and twenty-seven years as a civil service employee at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. His favorite activities were hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Ora Stevenson; his wife, Venita of Augusta, and a brother Norman Miller, of Beaumont, Texas.
His surviving relatives are his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Steve Jones of Wichita, and his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cathy Miller, of Blanco, Texas. Additional family members are his three grandchildren, Emily Forsberg of Wichita, Mason Miller of Austin, Texas and Jody Roberts, also of Austin, Texas. He has five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother and his wife Ray and Bess Miller, formerly of El Dorado, who now live in Crowley, Texas; sister-in-law Faye Miller of Beaumont, Texas.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at the Towanda Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church, 1600 State Street, Augusta, Kansas 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
