Obituary

Robert L. "Bob" Davis, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

Robert was born on Wednesday, July 22, 1936 in Longmont, Colorado to Ross W. and Helen G. (Gunn) Davis. He was born again by faith in Jesus Christ as a freshman geology student at the University of Wyoming in about 1954.

Bob subsequently prepared for ministry at the Midwest Bible and Missionary Institute in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a missionary pastor for about 7 years in the Pacific Northwest, serving Bible churches in Cambridge, Idaho, and Twisp, Washington. Then he pastored Baptist churches in Brighton, Denver and Idaho Springs, Colorado. He went to work for Red Dale Campers in Longmont, Colorado, and after they closed, for Beechcraft / Raytheon, working first at their Boulder, Colorado plant, and then transferring to the Andover, Kansas, facility.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed shooting, deer hunting, fishing, gold panning and woodworking. Most of all, he enjoyed talking to people he met about Jesus Christ and how they could have a personal relationship with Him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Doris (Swartz) (m. August, 2015) of Augusta, Kansas; his three children: Stephen Davis (age 64, spouse Diane) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Gail Davis (age 62, spouse Paul) of Leitchfield, Kentucky, and Mark Davis (age 56, spouse Christine) of Brandon, Florida; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Norma (Lewis) (d. August, 1976), second wife, Carol (Arnold) (d. June, 2015), and third wife, Wonetta (Dotson) (d. July, 2008); by brother Richard R. Davis (d. 1946); brother Duane L. Davis (d. May, 2020), and sister-in-law Donna (Overturf) Davis (d. April, 2016).

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, June 4, 2022 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Temple Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas.
