Pauline Kathreen (Turner) Wilson passed away on March 28th, 2015 at the age of 95 in Minneapolis, MN. She was a long time resident of Wichita, KS. She spent her last few years in Minneapolis in order to be closer to her son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known to all that loved her as Gigi.

Pauline was born in Augusta, KS on November 9th, 1919 to George Calvin Turner and Frieda Belle Johnston Turner. She grew up in the Flint Hills of Kansas along with five brothers and two sisters. She married Howard Wilson in the autumn of 1942 and had two sons, Howard Paul and Alan Curtis. They moved from Wichita to Southwestern Kansas in 1961 after Howard completed his Masters degree in Music Education at Wichita State University. Pauline worked as an executive secretary as well as being a homemaker while Howard worked as a music teacher. They raised their children in Liberal, KS. After Howard retired from teaching, they sold their house and traveled to all 48 continental United States. After their travels, they settled back in Wichita. Howard passed away in 1993 at age 74.

Pauline loved traveling and driving. Her favorite segment of her travels was visiting Civil War sites along the east coast. She spent a lot of time reading and learning about US history as well as winning at bridge with her friends. Pauline was a fan of music, notably big band music, drum and bugle corps, and Dean Martin. Pauline had a passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed camping with her family and on her own into her 80's. Her favorite place to camp was the Pike National Forest in Colorado. She went white water rafting for her 75th birthday, and she insisted on being in the front of the boat. Pauline made many friends as she traveled given her verbose and jocular character. She was always interested in current events and shared newspaper clippings from the Wichita Eagle with all her grandchildren. She was daring, loving, and strong. Her personal motto was, "I did it my way."

She will be missed by her surviving family including her son Alan and his wife Margaret. She had four grandchildren, Alexander Paul Wilson, Vanessa Leigh Roy, Jennifer Corinne Wilson, and Douglas Alan Wilson, as well as six great grandchildren: Nicholas, Molly, Elijah, Alexander, Charles, and Taten. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, and her son Howard Paul.

Pauline was an amazing, generous, and unique woman who will be deeply missed by all that had the honor of knowing her.

Graveside services will be on Sunday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, Kansas. The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made to National Parkinson Foundation - Heartland, in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
