Pilcher, Patricia Ann (Naylor), 66, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, April 1.  She was born on April 15, 1951, in Concordia, Kansas, to Charles Wilbur and Annamary Naylor.  She grew up in Concordia, where she met her first and only love, John William Pilcher, Jr.  Pat attended Fort Hays State University, earning a degree in elementary education, while John attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.  After graduating, they were united in marriage on June 23, 1973 in Concordia, then spent the next 44 years together raising their daughters Kristin and Katie, traveling, and setting an unmatched example of what it means to love unconditionally.  Pat was a retired elementary special education teacher who adored her students, some of whom were in her class for many years.  She was a member of PEO, the United Methodist Church, Delta Zeta Sorority, and Outlook Club.  She was a supporter of the ARC of Butler County, Augusta United Methodist Church, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and any organization whose goal was to further the well-being of the developmentally disabled.

Pat spent many summers as a lifeguard at the Concordia swimming pool and taught swimming lessons and first aid for many years.  Before she earned a Master's Degree in Special Education and began her 15 year teaching career at Jefferson Elementary in El Dorado, Kansas, she devoted her life to being a wife and mother, while still pursuing interests outside of the home.  She was a nurturing, supportive mother and wife.  She was a caring and devoted daughter to her parents and to her parents-in-law, and was like a sister to her sister-in-law Linda.  Pat and John lived in a lot of different places in their lives and learned to love the best things about each of them.

Pat loved to travel with John and with her family.  One of her favorite questions to ask when we were all together was, "Where should we go next?"  She loved to spend time with her grandsons and she loved spoiling them.  She loved classical music and going out to eat, playing bunco with her friends and card games with her family, and sitting outside on a beautiful day, listening to Puccini's Turandot with a glass of iced tea or wine.  She loved dogs, the color yellow, wind chimes, sports, the sound of trains, and anything John cooked on the grill.

Pat is survived by her beloved, devoted husband, John, daughters Kristin and Kathryn (Katie), sons-in-law Tristan Fitzwater and Lance Gillett, precious grandsons Elliott and Elijah Fitzwater, brother Chuck Naylor (Susan), brother-in-law Michael Pilcher (Carol), sister-in-law Linda Pilcher (Steve French), nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins, extended family by blood and by love, many "adopted" daughters, countless dear friends, and her dog Gretchen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Annamary Naylor, and her parents-in-law, John William Sr. (Bill) and Anna Louise Pilcher, all of whom adored her.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Ronald McDonald House Charities, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be at 10:00 Saturday morning, April 7, at the Augusta United Methodist Church.
