Obituary

Norma Lucille Lord, 88, entered into the loving arms of Jesus, her Savior, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Norma was born on Sunday, August 28, 1932 in Hilltop, Kansas to Francis W. and Eda K. (Guenther) Light.  The family later moved to Howard, Kansas where Norma grew up.  She graduated from Howard High School and married Bill Lord, the love of her life, on May 19, 1950.  They welcomed two children into the world and were married for almost 50 years before Bill passed away on March 31, 2000.  Norma was a homemaker until her children were in high school.  She then started a career at Cessna Aircraft, working there for over 20 years.

All who knew Norma or GG (as she was affectionately called) got to experience her kindness and willingness to help and care for others.  Many a delicious meal was enjoyed at her table, along with wonderful conversations and much laughter.

Her greatest joy in life was her family, which includes daughter Kathy Van Dever and her husband Lloyd of Augusta; son Daniel Lord and wife Marcella of Augusta; grandchildren Nathan Van Dever (Emily) of Wichita, Natalie Van Dever-Turpin (Brian) of Wichita, Ryan Van Dever (Janell) of Wichita; Justin Lord Sr. of Wichita, Travis Lord (Dawn) of Augusta, and Elizabeth Lord-Mattke (Jared) of Wakeeny; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  She is also survived by her sisters Harriet Hyler of Howard and Jean Long of Clearwater, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Lillian Hyler, Irene Britton, Joe Light and Charles Light.
