Fisher, Nellie Mae (Waetzig), 86, homemaker, passed away, Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
Nellie was born January 8, 1927, to Alfred Edward and Emma June (Purdy) Waetzig in Carbondale, Kansas. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1946 and married Carl Allen Fisher on March 16, 1947, also in Carbondale. Nellie was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church, teaching Sunday school and a Women's Fellowship member. She was a lifelong supporter of Boy and Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her sons Marc (Anne) Fisher of Topeka, Kansas, Craig Fisher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughters, Nancy (Larry) Lang of Overbrook, Kansas and Jeanne (Jerry) Mehl of El Dorado, Kansas; a brother, Chuck (Mona) Waetzig of Carbondale; sisters, Florence Lincoln of Carbondale, Barbara Heath of Topeka, Alice Lee Bernhardt of Carbondale, Virginia Downs, June (Jerry) Onnen, Peggy Owens all of Topeka and Carol (Dick) Ashwill of Carbondale; sister-in-law Geraldine Urich of Carbondale; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 29, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 30, at Shawnee Center Cemetery in Wakarusa, Kansas at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials have been established with the American Lung Association or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice both in care of the funeral home.
