Holmes, Michael "Mike" Steven, 60, Wichita postal carrier, passed away, Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Lakepoint of Augusta.

Michael was born to William Dale and LuElla Irene Holmes on September 30, 1949, in Herington, Kansas. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era in the Intelligence Department. Mike attended Southwestern College and Cowley County Community College where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Survivors include his father William Dale Holmes of Wichita; mother LuElla (Larry James, Sr.) Tong, of Augusta; brothers Larry (Debbie) Holmes of Augusta, Ernest (Lynette) Holmes of Wichita, Donald (Sandy) Holmes of Edinburg, Texas, Larry James Tong II of El Dorado; sister Florence (Ron) Hoover of Potwin, Kansas; step-brothers Tim (Theresa) Tong of Oxford, Kansas, Michael (Doreen) Tong of Winfield; step-sister Deborah (Guy) Gordon of Wichita.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 Ohio in Augusta. Interment will follow in Leon Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
