Merle Duane Ehret, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

Merle was born on October 20, 1928 in Gordon, Kansas to Don and Hazel (Cotton) Ehret.  He was united in marriage to Barbara Chappell on September 10, 1948.  They were married for 70 years.  Merle had served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Merle was an engineer and equipment operator.  He was a pilot, enjoyed painting, building things and gardening.  Merle loved his family very much.

Merle is survived by his wife Barbara; children George Duane Ehret of El Dorado, Deborah Knight of Augusta, Marcie and husband Dennis Louton of Albuquerque, NM and Valerie and husband Martin Maleport of Augusta; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Don Sam Ehret, Jack Ehret, Rusty Glenn Ehret, Donnie Jene, Opal Ross and Shirley Ehret.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 19th from 3:00-5:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be on Monday, May 20th at 1:00 p.m. both at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.  Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery also in Augusta.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the American Legion, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
