Johnson, Mary Etta "Pete" (Beck), 93, passed away, Friday, August 23, 2013.
Mary Etta Beck was born October 30, 1919, to Grover Cleveland and Flora Etta (Tefft) Beck in Benedict, Kansas. She married Chester Scott Johnson on March 9, 1941, in Buffalo, Kansas. Mary Etta was a member of The Rebekah's, Odd Fellows, Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers and played the piano. She was a manager at Augusta's Peter Pan, helped with Girl Scouts and retired as a librarian from the Augusta Library.
Her survivors include a daughter and her husband Carol and J.D. Bell of Wichita, Kansas; son and his wife Miles and Barbara Johnson of Warner Robbins, Georgia; former daughter-in-law Darla Kerns of Goddard, Kansas; five grandchildren Kimberly (Timothy) Chessmore, Denise (Kevin) Vann, Mandy (Tim) Johnson, Shannon (Joe) Gonsalves and Scott (Lindsey) Johnson; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; and a brother Grover "Ted" Beck.
Visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral Monday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m., both at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
A memorial has been established with The Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
