Martin "Marty" Craig Smith, 68, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Marty was born on Saturday, September 21, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas to Herbert "Ken" and Wilma (Dean) Smith.

Marty was united in marriage to Brenda Sanders on May 24th, 1974. They enjoyed close to 52 years of marriage before Marty's passing.

Marty started working at the young age of 9 years old for a local dog kennel. In teenage years he started working in heating and air conditioning and eventually started a business with his father & older brother. He later transitioned to be a general contractor, traveling weekly to Oklahoma & Texas for the next 30 years, often accompanied by his nephew, Chase Sanders. He retired in October of 2020.

Marty was a simple man of few words, but his presence spoke volumes. His tough and rugged exterior was no true reflection of his kind, loving soul, especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When he wasn't hard at work, he enjoyed muscle cars, trips to Colorado, and catching an old western on TV. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Marty is survived by his mother, Wilma (Townlian) Smith of Douglass; wife, Brenda of Andover; sons, Jason (Samantha) Smith of Andover, Justin (Ann) Smith of Andover; honorary sons, Jeremy Carr, Jessie Turner, Jesse Dragoo; grandchildren, Dakotah, Rebekah, Journey, Dalton, Houston, Brigg, Jersey, Colter, Colby; great-grandchildren, Wayln, Hudson, Willa, Emberlynn, Iris; brother, Roger "Rocky" Smith; brothers-in-law, Steve Sanders, William "Scott" Sanders; nieces; nephews; and devoted pet, Norma Jean.

Marty is preceded in death by his father, Herbert "Ken" Smith; brother, Richard "Rick" Smith; father-in-law, William Dale Sanders; grand-father-in-law, William Glenn Sanders; and sister-in-law, Sherri Sanders.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 2 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the Cancer Research Institute or Hope In The Valley Equine Rescue & Sanctuary, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
