Lynn Everett McBride, 78, of Andover, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Lynn was born on Sunday, May 28, 1944 in El Dorado, Kansas to Elza A. and Eunice V. (Potts) McBride.

Lynn was united in marriage to Karen McBride (Johnson) on July 12, 1964 in El Dorado, Kansas. They were devoted in marriage for 58 wonderful years.

Lynn was an entrepreneur for most of his life. He worked both for himself and for others throughout his many creative endeavors, always serving those he came into contact with joyfully and with kindness. Between his sharp intuition and hard work, Lynn worked his way from a position at Sherwin-Williams paints to founding The Shoppers Guide within few short years. Lynn and Karen later founded the successful newspaper, The Wichita Chronicle, which spread uplifting news and information throughout the greater Wichita area for 10 years. Lynn's greatest passion was serving and loving Christ, and in 1981, Lynn and Karen answered God's call to devote their lives to full-time ministry. A devoted member and evangelist with the Christian Motorcycle Association, Lynn served the Lord with CMA for 13 years, alongside his wife, Karen. After hanging up his motorcycle helmet, Lynn served as the Director of Central Kansas Prison Ministry faithfully for the remainder of his life. There, he helped fund and bring to life the Spiritual Life Center, where inmates could gather to worship and have Bible studies. Lynn carried the gospel message of hope with him wherever he went.

Lynn had many unique talents and passions. He did a lot of restoration work, and brought new life to many worn-out things others no longer saw potential in. Lynn believed in being a life-long learner; he enjoyed finding new information and knowledge on a variety of subjects. A deeply creative man, Lynn wrote Bible studies, created ministry materials, was an artist, a guitar player, a gospel singer, a gifted storyteller, and a devoted "Star Trek" fan. Lynn was always up for an adventure; he loved to travel both near and far, and enjoyed gaining new life experiences along the way. Lynn was a friend to so many, and he always seemed to find someone he recognized anywhere he went. Lynn had such a unique ability to bring people together from all walks of life. Most of all, Lynn loved and adored his family. Lynn never let a Christmas gathering go by without reading the story of the birth of Christ from the Bible to his children and grandchildren. He spent his life encouraging them in their faith walk, praying for them, baptizing them, and teaching them how to devote their lives to Christ. Lynn wrote each one of them a special blessing, with scripture, that he prayed over their lives throughout the years. He made it his mission to lead his family in the ways of the Lord, faithfully. With his life, love, and passion, Lynn truly embodied the Latin phrase "Carpe Diem" (Seize the Day).

Lynn is survived by his beloved wife Karen; his children and their spouses, daughter Mashella Johnson and her husband, Joel Johnson; son Mark McBride and his wife Shannon McBride; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Johnson, Hannah Rebekah Johnson, and Cross Alan McBride; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Vivian Smith and Ellazene McAdoo; brothers Alva McBride and David Xuery.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 19th from 5-7 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. "Home-Going" Celebration (funeral service) will be on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
