Upchurch, Lowell Grover, 94, formerly of Augusta, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014, in his home in Toronto, Kansas.
Lowell was born February 24, 1919, in Douglas County, Missouri to Grover and Ella (Miller) Upchurch. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp and graduated from Missouri State Teachers College in Marysville, Missouri. He married Loretta Gail Thompson on January 1, 1950, in Augusta. Lowell was a self-employed carpenter and owned and operated Upchurch Ditching Service.
His survivors include his brothers, Raymond Upchurch of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Stanley and his wife Evelyn of Noel, Missouri; sisters, Gina Dolese of Augusta and Wilma Whinery of Rose Hill, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse; sisters, Sybil Upchurch and Zelma Still.
No visitation. Graveside service will be held Monday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery using the 12th Street entrance.
