Lourdes Ramos passed away Friday afternoon, February 21, 2025 with family by her side.  She recently celebrated her 80th birthday.  Lourdes was widely known for her kindness, caring for others, love of garage sales, talking about her children and grandchildren, and aggressive bingo.

Lourdes was born in Panama and emigrated to Eureka, KS with her first husband J.L. Thompson Jr. who passed in 1971.  They had a son, Richard Thompson who survives.   She later moved to Augusta and married Dale E. Gooch who passed in 2013. They had a daughter, Michelle Gooch Doan who survives.  Lourdes married Santos Ramos and they enjoyed great times and many trips to Panama until his passing in 2022.

Lourdes has extended family in Panama and kept in touch with her many siblings. She was one of 7, with 2 now surviving.

Lourdes had an extraordinary life from learning most of her English from Sesame Street, to taking Driver's Ed while in her 30's with High School kids.   There was rarely a dull moment.

She loved her grandchildren fiercely and would tell any and all about Ashton, Jacob, Heather, and Jason.

She spent a lifetime helping others as a Respiratory Therapist, home healthcare worker, server and volunteer. Later in life she particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Augusta Community Caring Center where the director says she would do a "little dance" while distributing food.

Lourdes liked to dance, be "on the go" and help others (whether they needed help or not).  She was a fundamentally kind and giving person.

Lourdes will be missed.

She is survived by children, Richard Thompson (Brenda) and Michelle Gooch Doan (Louie); grandchildren, Ashton, Jacob, Heather, and Jason; and extended family in Panama.
