Obituary

- Leland Cox, Age 90, of Rose Hill passed away on April 22nd, 2017.

Leland was born July 3rd, 1926, in Browntown, Kansas to Carl Leland and Helen (Rinkel) Cox. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Tompkins on March 19, 1949 in Kansas City Missouri at the Salvation Army Church. Leland was a veteran of the United States Navy and a proud member of the Salvation Army. Leland served as the Chief of Police in Eastborough. He also was a leather craftsman and owned his own leather shop, Lee's Boot and Saddle Repair in Rose Hill. Leland loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them.

Leland is survived by his children, Cindy Shea of Augusta, Kansas, Jennifer and husband Mark Thielen of Lambertville, Michigan, Leland W. and wife Joy Cox of Wichita, Kansas, Marjorie Herman of Oxford, Kansas; brother Jess Cox of Wichita; sisters Leska Chance of Derby, Dorothy Melcher, of Mulvane, Greta Costlow of Benton, Barbara Stoffel of Mulvane; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Leland is preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie; brother Lloyd Cox; sisters Margaret Spence, Mary Evans and LenaMae Cooley.

A memorial has been established to the Salvation Army in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be Wednesday April 26th at 10:30 a.m. both at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
