Van Horn, Keith Donovan, 83, passed away, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Keith was born March 27, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas to Leo Edward and Goldie Ernestine (Ramsey) Van Horn. He grew up in Oil Hill, Kansas and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1944. Keith served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and married Joan A. Murray on June 6, 1948 in El Dorado. Keith then graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950. He worked for Cities Service Oil Company/Occidental Petroleum from 1950-1990 retiring as a regional manager of production.
After retirement he and Joan owned and operated JK Pecan Orchard in Gardendale, Texas and were also members of the West Texas RV Club. They enjoyed traveling throughout North America for over 15 years.
Community involvement included Boy Scouts (joining at the age of 12) from 1939-2000 where he was Past President of Buffalo Trails Council in Midland, Texas, Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow and received his Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope. Keith was also a member of the Masons Royal Lodge #192 in Lyons, Kansas and the Shriner Lodge El Paso Scottish Rite. He was also an active member at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas.
Survivors include his wife Joan Van Horn of 62 years of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons Larry (Susanna) Van Horn of Corpus Christi, Texas; Craig (Donna) Van Horn of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters Debby (Roger) Vester of Georgetown, Texas and Sharon (David) Stone of Blanchard, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 14 from 2-3 p.m. and the funeral service Monday, November 15, at 11:00 a.m. both at Dunsford~Zeiner Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
A memorial has been established with Angel Bright Hospice, 3213 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 or in care of the funeral home.
