Augusta – John Henry Rogers, 89, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021.

John was born on Sunday, August 28, 1932 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Robert Vernon and Nora Alice (Fiscus) Rogers.  John married Sadie "Carneese" Harper on February 14, 1954 in Coffeyville, Kansas.  John pastored the First Nazarene Church in Humboldt, Kansas and later worked as a teacher in the Wichita and Augusta school districts.  He then worked as principal at Lincoln Elementary in Augusta.  After retiring John worked at the Dillons in Augusta.  He loved bowling, reading, tennis, chess, teaching Sunday school, fishing, and road trips.

John is survived by his wife Carneese; son John Anthony Rogers; grandson William Anthony Rogers; daughter-in-law Linda Larue (Brattain) Rogers; siblings Mary Stuart, Dorothy Dietchie and Sue Blake.

John is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Jimmy Dean, Homer, and Clarence and his sisters Barbra Rogers and Marty Murrow.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 31, 2021 from 1-2 pm at First Nazarene Church, 117 W. 6 ^th Avenue in Augusta.  Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the First Nazarene Church, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
