Augusta - John Hood Frank Smith, 82, passed away at his home on January 26, 2015.

John was born May 25, 1932, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Hood and Mary (Johnson) Smith. John was united in marriage to Joyce Sheets on December 5, 1970 in Wichita, Kansas. John worked as a sheet metalist at Boeing for 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Augusta; children Tom and his wife Candy Smith of Marion, Kansas, Deb and her husband Bill Thornton of Hartford, Kansas, John Smith of El Dorado, Kansas, Millie and her husband Bruce Bergstrom of Lebo, Kansas; grandchildren, Melanie (Eric) Cushman, Samantha (Neil) Cookson, Levi (Tracy) Lutz, Cheyanne Gould, Sierra Gould, Brandy (Ed) Gannon, Jacob (Cassie) Bergstrom, Adam (Allison) Bergstrom, Aerin (Rick) Conn, Mycal (Darius) Miles, Amanda Fae (Jesse) Pulley, Arianna ( Nick) Hoskinson; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elmina Smith, Emma O'Bryant, Agnes Ritter, Jerry Ryan, Frances Leedom, Dorothy Rolen, Edna Ellis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Carmen Dean Martin and Arlene Barnett.

A memorial has been established with Shriners International and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Memorial services will be Saturday January 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Douglass Cemetery in Douglass, Kansas.
