Wichita - John Bybee, 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

John was born on June 16, 1941, to Arthur Allen and Mary Martha (Bolen) Bybee in Wichita, Kansas. John married Lyla Hooten in 1984. John had served in the United States Army. John had worked at Learjet for 24 years in Interiors. He loved his grandchildren, NASCAR, woodworking, and motorcycling. He was a past member of the Median Shrine.

John is survived by his wife Lyla, of the home; daughter Jennifer Hooten; son Terry Norton and wife Dana; son-in-law Jim Dresslaer; mother-in-law Dean Pruitt, all of Wichita, KS; daughter Laura Bybee of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Jim Bybee and wife Florence of Derby, KS; sister Ann Dehoff of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law Ray Pruitt and wife Alta of Morrilton, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. John was a "Papa to many".

John was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Vicki Dresslaer and Sherry Hubble, first wife Sarah Bybee; brothers Bob, Art "Bud", Bob Elliott, sisters Phyllis and Juanita.

Memorial services will be May 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 8021 W. 21st St N, in Wichita, KS.
