Corpus Christi, TX - Joan Amaryllis Van Horn, 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

Joan was born on September 27, 1927, to James Patrick Murray and Naomi J. (Underwood) Murray in Madison, Kansas. She had attended El Dorado High School and later El Dorado Jr. College. Joan had worked at Bacon Insurance Company for 3 years. Joan married Keith Donovan Van Horn on June 6, 1948 in El Dorado, Kansas. She was a member of Eastern Star and St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Midland, TX. In her retirement years she was the Owner/Operator of JK Pecan Orchard in Gardendale, TX and was a member of the West Texas RV Club. She enjoyed traveling throughout North America in their motor home for over 15 years from 1989 to 2005. She loved to see the world by cruise ship, working on her needle work, and being with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Joan is survived by her daughters Debby Vester and husband Roger of Georgetown, TX, Sharon Stone and husband David of Cypress, TX; sons Larry Van Horn and wife Susanna of Corpus Christi, TX, Craig Van Horn and wife Donna of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith and her brother James Patrick Murray Jr.
