Jo Ann
Katherine Jones
Nov 27, 1935 — Feb 27, 2023
Augusta
Jo Ann "Jody" Katherine Jones, 87, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023.
Jody was born on Wednesday, November 27, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to Presley B. and Marjorie K. (Schubert) Johnson. The family resided in Wichita for the majority of her youth. She graduated from East High School.
Jody was united in marriage to Eldon Dean Jones on May 21, 1955 in Wichita. The couple moved to California as Eldon was still in the Navy at that time. They grew their family and moved back to the Augusta area in 1966. They were married for 52 years until Eldon's passing in 2008.
Jody was first and foremost, a homemaker. While the children were in school, she utilized her creativity and artistic skills by creating many, many costumes over the years for school plays, various festivals and of course, Halloween costumes. When the children were older, she joined her husband, a long-haul truck driver, and drove her fair share of miles and enjoyed seeing the USA. In later years, they enjoyed travelling in their motorhome.
Jody loved creating elaborate decorated cookies and cakes, planning parties, and decorating for any Holiday. She loved reading, flower gardening, crafting and so much more!
Jody is survived by her son, Richard (Patty) Jones of Ark City, Kansas; son, Robert (Kerry) Jones of Haysville, Kansas; daughter, Cheryl (Steve) McCracken of Tuttle, Oklahoma; brother, Bill (Frieda) Johnson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jody is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon Jones; and grandsons, Levi and Rhett Jones.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 10 a.m. also at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta followed by a brief graveside service at the Douglass Cemetery where she will be interred next to her beloved husband, Eldon.
Jody was an avid fan of History, therefore, the family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the Augusta Historical Society, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Please share your memories by bringing photos and/or stories to add to her Memory Board which is available at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
