Augusta - Veldonna Rush, 77 passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17 , 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 22 at the First Christian Church in Augusta, KS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21st from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Jimmie Veldonna Rush was born on August , 10, 1935 the daughter of James A. and Velma L. (Bucket) Nutter in Augusta, KS. She was a 1953 graduate of the Augusta High School. She was united in marriage with John Rush on Dec. 23, 1954. Veldonna was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, stained glass, crochet, sewing, knitting, making jewelry, making wedding cakes and was a great cook. Until her retirement she was a supervisor for the Kansas Dept. of aging. Survivors include her husband John Rush of the home, son, Kevin and wife Melinda of Wichita, KS, daughter Karen Thummel and husband Alan of Yukon, OK, brother Delbert Nutter and wife Kathy of Queen Creek, AZ, 5 grandchildren, Anna Woodhams, Matthew Thummel, Allison Thummel, Jonathan Rush and Megan Rush and 3 great grandchildren, Madison Woodhams, Ashley Woodhams and Emarie Treleven. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Nutter. Arrangements are with the Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory of Augusta, Kansas.
