DeWitt, Jim A., 89, retired Augusta City street foreman, passed away, Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Jim was born October 17, 1921 in Cass Lake, Minnesota to Henry Frank and Clara Ellen (Elliott) DeWitt. He married Dora May Maggard in Angola, Indiana on January 15, 1944.


Jim loved to hunt and fish and was an outstanding gardener.

Survivors include his sons Jim (Sheri) DeWitt of El Dorado, Frank (Angel) DeWitt of Augusta; 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse; son LeRoy and 12 brothers and sisters.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, March 8, from 1-5 p.m. and Visitation with family greeting friends will be from 5-7 p.m. both at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, 521 East 12th Street, Augusta, Kansas.

Memorials have been established with The Gideon's International and The American Lung Association, both in care of the funeral home.
