Jerald "Jerry" Lee Rash, 78, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was a fighter who overcame previous health issues with his heart and an earlier cancer diagnosis.

Jerry was born on Sunday, February 18, 1945, in Cherryvale, Kansas to Lloyd and Louise (VanCleave) Rash. Jerry married Peggy King in 1964 and they welcomed a son in 1965 and a daughter in 1968.

Jerry's career journey began as an assistant fire chief in Cherryvale, Kansas right after graduating high school. Jerry advanced his career by accepting a job at Southwestern Bell in Liberal, Kansas. He and his family then transferred to Augusta, Kansas to be closer to Cherryvale in 1970. Jerry had a distinguished career with Southwestern Bell (ATT) for over 30 years.

Jerry was a great athlete in his youth and especially excelled at basketball for his high school team. Jerry loved to coach his son and daughter and countless Augusta youth in many sports for over 10 years. He loved to fish, enjoyed many fishing trips with his brothers, and reeled in many whoppers. Jerry loved kids including his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jerald Rash, Jr. "Zeke" (Wife) Charity Rash; daughter, Angie Rash; grandchildren, Crysta Sherbon, Courtney Clark, Hannah Tracy, Kory Rash; great grandchildren, Lee Sherbon, Sawyer Sherbon, Kameron Clark, Theo Tracy, Kason Clark; siblings, Jack Rash, Jon Rash, Bill Rash, Bruce Rash, Jayne Knight, Marlene Poole.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim Rash and Larry Rash.

A family held Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 11 a.m. in Cherryvale, Kansas at Fairview Cemetery.
