Obituary

Van Huss, Janice, Ilene (Jones), 79, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, at her daughters home in Omaha, Nebraska.

Janice was born August 15, 1932, in Eugene, Oregon to Elmer and Inez (Farque) Jones. She attended Leon schools and married James Van Huss on May 1, 1950, in Oklahoma. They were married 62 years and for the last five decades they have lived in their home in Wichita. They brought six children into this world: Jayne, Roger, Karen Sue, Debra, Robert and Stacy Lee. Her legacy will be her life: going forward in good times and bad, seeing humor when all else fails and holding her complaints and tears deep within. Her love of Jesus was deeply held, tested dearly, and she believed her actions spoke much more than any words can ever say. Her children, her 10 grandchildren and her 2 beautiful great grandchildren can never give back to her in the measure she gave herself for them. Mom loved her family above all other earthly cares. She loved being in her home, caring for her dogs and flowers, feeding the birds and squirrels every morning of every day. She loved her dear and old friends and she loved to laugh.

Survivors include her husband James of Wichita, KS; son and his wife Roger (Lupe) Van Huss of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughters and their husbands Debbie (Steve) McDowell of Omaha, Stacy (Bob) Cargile of Clearwater, KS and Karen (Ron) Goodman of Overland Park, KS; sister Hazel Hodges of San Antonio, TX; brother Ellsworth (JoAnn) Jones of Dickenson, TX; eight grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her son Robert Van Huss; daughter Jayne Rice; brother Wayne Jones; granddaughters Lesley Rice and Elizabeth McDowell.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 14, from 6-8p.m. in the Dunsford Chapel. Graveside service will be in Beaumont Cemetery in Beaumont, Kansas on Tuesday, May 15, at 1:00 p.m.
