Janet Sue Ohl, 64, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022. She passed peacefully in the care of her family and Harry Hines Memorial Hospice after battling with pancreatic cancer for over a year.

Janet was born on Saturday, February 8, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas to Amon and Effie (Imel) Fairbanks.

Janet was united in marriage to Daniel Ohl on December 29th 1979. They were married for 34 years until his passing in April 2013.

Janet worked a full life as a nurse for Ascension Via Christ St. Francis for 41 years. She loved the people she worked with and considered them an extended family. The amount of support, visits, flowers, and cards she received from her work family during her time as a patient in the hospital was overwhelming and truly cherished by her and her family.

Janet was known for her infectious smile, and not taking things too seriously. She loved her job and made many life-long friendships throughout her career. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, going on adventures, doing arts and crafts and being a loving grandmother. She was a friend to so many and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she has touched.

Janet is survived by her sons, Derek (Roxann) Ohl of Augusta and Sheldon (Amy) Ohl of Valley Center; grandchildren, Tyson, Baylee, Rozlynn, Rowan, and Rhys; sister, Jane (Marvin) Schild; brother, Jim (Janice) Fairbanks; extended family, Victor (Sadie) Salloum and their children Henry, Samuel, and Jonathan.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Daniel.

Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a family held funeral Mass following at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15th 2022 both at St. James church in Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to "Janet's Memorial Fund" using the link below. Any funds donated will be used to purchase a memorial in Janet's name for the unit she worked in, the MICU at St. Francis Hospital. The exact memorial has not yet been decided but the family would like to donate something to benefit the employees of the unit who cared so much for Janet, her home away from home for all these years. Any remaining or excess funds will be put towards her graveside memorial stone, any end of life medical expenses or donated to Harry Hines Memorial Hospice.
