Obituary

James Roger Van Huss, 86, passed away in Wichita, on Friday, August 5, 2016.

Jim was born on July 9, 1930, to Fred and Beulah (Phillips) Van Huss in Beaumont, Kansas. At the age of 18, Jim joined the USMC, eventually serving his country in the Korean War where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Jim married Janice Jones on May 1, 1950, in Oklahoma. They were married 62 years until her passing in May 7, 2012. They brought six children into this world: Jayne, Roger, Karen Sue, Debra, Robert and Stacy Lee. He enjoyed gardening, golf, wood working and sports. Jim was known as "Papa" by his children and grandchildren and loved his family above all other earthly cares.

Jim is survived by his children, Roger (Julie) Van Huss of Nevada, Karen (Ron) Goodman of Tennessee, Debra (Steve) McDowell of Wisconsin, Stacy (Bob) Cargile of Kansas; son-in-law Sam Rice; daughter-in-law Lupe Van Huss; brother Robert Van Huss of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife Janice, daughter Jayne, son Robert, granddaughters Lesley Rice and Elizabeth McDowell.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday August 8 at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta. Graveside services will be Monday August 8, at 12:00 p.m. at the Beaumont cemetery in Beaumont, Kansas.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made to Wounded Warriors, in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
