James Anthony Palmer, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

James was born on Thursday, March 21, 1940 in Sarcoxie, Missouri to Edmund and Emma (Katzfy) Palmer.

James worked as a Safety Engineer and was a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, for many years. He was also a Police Reserve, in Augusta, for several years and was a member of the Kansas Police Officer's Association.

James loved baking and cooking, music and in his younger years, singing. He was an avid sci-fi reader. He liked planting trees and flowers, so he could enjoy the birds in his yard. James had always loved the Doberman Pinschers, the family raised and showed. He had a heart for the many stray dogs and cats who showed up on his doorstep, through the years; providing food and water for as long as they would come to eat. When they allowed it, he took them for vet care. Some of them became lifetime members of his household.

James is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Rex) Seymour, his son, Chris Palmer; and his sister Mary Jean Cline; and by his friend and ex-wife, Judy Palmer.

James is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rose Marie Hagan.
