Sims, James Michael "Jim", "Cowboy" 60, passed away, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Via Christi St. Francis with a brain tumor.
Jim was born March 23, 1951, to Willard and Helen (McAfee) Sims in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He graduated from High School in Augusta and married Cynthia Kay Brunton on June 1, 1971, in Haverhill, Kansas. Jim retired from Cessna Aircraft after 36 years as a machine shop foreman.
Survivors include his wife Cindy of the home; sons Shane (Kelley) Sims and James "Matt" Sims both of Wichita; brothers Loyd (Joyce) Sims of Augusta and Tom Sims of Wichita; sisters Barbara Lyon of Long Beach, California and Beverly (Mike) Cheslic of Augusta; two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his son William "Bill" Sims.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Prairie Hills Southern Baptist Church.
A memorial has been established with Prairie Hills Church, 9959 SW Pampas Road, Augusta, 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
