James "Jim" Spencer Baldwin, age 89 passed peacefully on October 21st at his home in Douglass, Kansas.

Jim was born on August 13, 1936 in Emporia, Kansas to Wayne Murray Baldwin and Edna Pauline Kehler.  He grew up there in the fifties and graduated high school at Roosevelt High School in 1956.  He married Mary (Rhodes) Baldwin on November 2, 1955 in Madison, Kansas.

Jim and Mary always enjoyed traveling and listening to country music.  They traveled to Turkey, Texas with friends to attend the Bob Wills Festival every year for 25 years.  They became friends with some of the band members.

Jim also liked to just get in the truck and drive around on all the country roads and just relax.  He loved to get outside and work in the yard, growing flowers and vegetables.  He also liked to go in the garage and work on whatever he could fix or change.  He learned mechanics from his father and liked to work on cars.  His mind was good and he was a good handyman.   He could fix anything around the house or yard.

Later when he couldn't get outside as much, he learned to use the computer so he could play games and visit with friends on Facebook.  He still liked to get on his electric scooter and run around the yard to check out the flowers, still wanting to start them from seeds.

He suffered from Parkinson's for the last six years, and kept as active as possible.  He wanted to remain in his home, and never complained.

James is survived by wife Mary Rhodes Baldwin of the home, daughter Janice Duryea (Craig) of Douglass.  Grandchildren Kristin Schwintz (Brad) of Douglass, Kansas, Amber Epperson (Jay) of Andover, Kansas, Brent Wright (Angie) of Meridianville, Alabama, Erin Ferguson (Peter) of Glasgow, Scotland.  Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and daughter Keri Wright.

Graveside Service to be held on Thursday, October 30th at 1 p.m. at the Douglass Cemetery.

The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the Douglass Senior Center or the Douglass Historical Museum, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
