Rowland, Irene Clara (Wetschensky), 96, lifelong resident of Augusta, Kansas, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.

Irene was born January 31, 1917, to Martin and Mary (Brandawiede) Wetschensky in Newton, Kansas. She married William Sherman Rowland on December 19, 1934. She was a homemaker and together they ran a dairy farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill on June 28, 1978; one son, Robert Martin Rowland in July of 1992; granddaughter, Holly Perry and a grandson, Kevin Rowland.

She is survived by her sons, William S. Rowland, Jr. (Ramona) of Interlachen, Florida; Park G. Rowland (Carol) of El Dorado, Kansas; daughter, Karen Perry of Augusta; brother, Harold Wetschensky (Ethel) of Newton; grandchildren, Monty Rowland (Angie), Gerald Rowland (Juliann), Matt Rowland, Troy Rowland, Charlene Rowland, Kathrina Bradshaw, Scott Perry and Robbie Perry; 8 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 8, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 9 in Elmwood Cemetery using the 12th Street entrance.

Memoriala have been established with the Alzheimer's Association and the American Macular Degeneration Foundation both in care of the funeral home.
