Pippin, Geraldine, Pearl (Burns) 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Lakepoint of Augusta.
Geraldine was born March 19, 1923, to John Jack and Leoria (Tatroe) Burns in Augusta. She graduated from Augusta High School and attended two years of college. On June 1, 1939, she married Herman M. Pippin in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Geraldine was a member of the First Christian Church in Augusta, a homemaker, a cook at Lincoln School and retired as a Ward Clerk at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
Her survivors include her sons and their wives Keith and Priscilla Pippin of Cave Creek, Arizona, Jack and Jan Pippin of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren Vandy Ray, Scott Pippin, Thumper Johnson, Jackie Green and Anthony VantLeven; seven great-grandchildren Nick Ray, Zack Ray, Alecia Pippin, Ashley Pippin, Mariah Green, D.J. Green and Alexandra Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; daughter Theta Jean Johnson; brothers Oliver, Clayton and Gerald Burns; a sister Geneva Reed.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church, 1600 State Street, Augusta, Kansas 67010, or in care of the funeral home.
