Augusta - George Austin Carter Jr, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.
George was born on October 18, 1941, to George and Bertha (Gunter) Carter Sr. in Greenville, South Carolina. He had attended Greenville Tech. George married Edith McNutt on August 3, 1979 in El Dorado, Kansas. George had served his country in the US Navy for 16 years and had served in Vietnam. George had worked as an over the road truck driver and with the City of Augusta for 3 years in the electrical field. He loved crossword and sudoku puzzles as well as deep sea fishing.
George is survived by his wife Edith of the home; daughters Angela Carter and fiancé Jacoba Holmes, Alina Carter, Ashley Carter and Adrianna Carter all of the home; sons John Barry Carter of Greenville, S.C., George Timothy and wife Brenda Carter, of Greenville, S.C.; daughter Sonya Garcia of Greenville, S.C.; brothers Johnny Lee Carter of Taylor, S.C. and Billy and wife Annette Carter of Travelers Rest, S.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Amanda Carter.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 30 at Dunsford Chapel from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Pointe Church in Augusta, KS. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, Kansas.
