Augusta - Gearl "Jack" Bannon, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

Jack was born on June 26, 1921, to Clarence and Della (Chance) Bannon in Udall, Kansas. He had attended Rose Hill High School. Jack married Geneva "Jenny" May Winters on May 17, 1943. Jack had served his country in the US Army during WWII. He owned and operated Jack Bannon Realty and Auction as well as Jack Bannon Family Land and Cattle Company. He was also a landowner/operator and built several businesses ranging from livestock sale barns to motels. He loved the race horse and cattle business and was known as a "Legend" in both industries.

Jack is survived by his daughters Loretta Perry and husband Peter of Centennial, Colorado, Susan Bannon of Wichita, Kansas, Starlet Hunt and husband Charley of Augusta, Kansas, Jaylean Wakefield and husband Walter of Atlanta, Kansas; sister Marvaline Ray of Haysville, Kansas; grandchildren Ginger Perry, Erin McCoy, Charlet Terry, Charlton Hunt, Josie Carlisle, Jack Wakefield, Jeana McClure and Joni Showalter; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Jenny, daughter Gearldene, his parents and sister Maydene Pickett.

Visitation will be Monday, September 7 at Dunsford Chapel from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Friends Church in Rose Hill, KS. Interment will be at Friends Cemetery, Rose Hill, KS.
