Banzet, Edyth Mertie, 94, passed away, Monday, April 4, 2011, in Leon, Kansas.
Edyth was born November 5, 1916 in Larned, Kansas to George and Mertie Newland. She married Charles Edward Banzet on January 31, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas. Edyth was an elementary school teacher in Edna, South Mound and Galesburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, five brothers George, Roy, Edgar, John and Donald Newland; and a sister Lucille Furlow; Her survivors include her sons Charles "Lynn" (Phyllis) Banzet of Orefield, Pennsylvania and Alan (Roberta) Banzet of Leon, Kansas; sister-in-law Betty Newland of Wichita; one granddaughter; 3 step-grandsons; 2 step-granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Viewing will also take place from 12:30-1:00 p.m. prior to the graveside service on Friday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. in Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett, Kansas with Pastor Richard Crooks officiating.
