Edward Bernard Wiesen 83, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022.

Edward was born on January 24, 1939 in Homewood, Kansas to Harry and Juanita (Killion) Wiesen. He graduated from Kapaun All Boys High School. He lettered 2 years in football as a starting right guard and utility defensive player, coached by legend John Knolla. He went into the U.S. Army after High School. He completed his basic training and advanced infantry training at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was assigned to the 1 ^st Battle Group 187 ^th infantry 1 ^st infantry division as 3:5 Rocket Launcher gunner. He was then transferred to Mannheim, Germany, and assigned to the 87 ^th infantry division. Upon discharge he received honorable discharge and received the Good Conduct Medal.

He spent his working years in retail management with G.E.M. Department Store, he worked as the Dept. Manager, Merchandise Manager, Assistant Store Manager in succession.

At Pamida Discount Center, he was store manager at Pittsburg, Kansas and Gillette, Wyoming, between these assignments, he was project manager in charge of new store openings. He supervised openings of 15 stores in 10 states and the remodel of many locations. At Western Auto Corp., he supervised new store openings. He also remodeled several franchise dealer stores and worked with dealers with operation, merchandise problems, and solutions.

He closed out his Western Auto Association at the East Kellogg Auto Super Store. He was the Tire Specialist and Service Advisor. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Augusta, Kansas. He was a member of Harvest House, Knights of Columbus, including, Adoration Chapel, Give a Ride, School Auction, Ice Cream Social, and served 7 years at The Lord's Diner. He built useful wood products that he donated to parish functions.

Other interests included, bird hunting, deer and antelope hunting in the Wyoming Bighorn Mountain Range. Sport fishing from the Pacific Northwest in Oregon to deep sea fishing off the Florida Gulf Coast and 17 states in between. He was an avid reader of Civil War history of Generals Grant and Sherman campaigns, provided homes to stray cats and hosted many family gatherings.

Edward is survived by his wife Judy of 61 years; brother Jim and wife Merita Wiesen; sisters, Pat Roth, Mary Jones, Sharon and husband Jesse Bishop, Kathy and husband Dwight Cotton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward is preceded in death by his infant daughters, Judith and Joyce; parents; brothers Dave and Mike Wiesen; sisters Teresa Harp and Robbie Hartley.

Rosary will be Friday June 10 ^th at 10:30 a.m. with Mass starting at 11:00 a.m. both at St. James Catholic Church of Augusta.

Memorial donations may be made out to the Kansas Humane Society or St. James Catholic Church, left in care of Dunsford Funeral Home.
