Earl Edward Chubb, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Earl was born on Thursday, September 2, 1928 in Millersburg, Pennsylvania to Harry and Anna L. (Pierce) Chubb on a dairy farm in a family of 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Earl was united in marriage to Edna L. Lahr on August 26, 1950. They were married for 68 years until Edna's passing in 2018.

He was without a name when he was born and was referred to by, first his family and later the community, as "Babe". He only had an 8th grade education but had larger than life aspirations.

Earl went shark fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and loved to fish and hunt. He worked for the railroad and was a Juvenile Detention worker. He also owned racecars, a used car lot, helped run a hotel in Ocean City, MD, and helped his brother in his roofing business. Later he was a Self-Employed contractor and developed several neighborhoods in Pennsylvania. He Embraced technology and learned to use a computer, internet, and began day trading. Earl loved immersing himself in the stock market.

Earl was a devoted church member wherever he moved until his later years.

In Earl and Edna's retirement they traveled the world. They walked the Great Wall in China, visited Poland while it was still a communist country first allowing western tourists, built churches in Honduras, floated the rivers in the rainforest of Brazil, toured the opal mines of Australia, and traveled many, many more places.

In their older years, Earl and Edna left Pennsylvania to move to Wisconsin where their daughter had moved to support their granddaughter after her divorce.

On one of their road trips Earl fell in loved with Kansas and decided to buy a ranch in Pratt. They moved back to Pennsylvania after a few years, but his love of Kanas eventually pulled him back when his granddaughter married and moved to Kansas. Earl and Edna moved after her and Edna was laid to rest in Pratt, Kansas in 2018. Earl lived with his granddaughter until his passing. Earl is best remembered as being a patriarchal provider for his entire family.

Earl is survived by siblings, Donald Chubb and Marie Messersmith of Millersburg, PA; daughter, Priscilla Burns of Klamath Falls, OR; granddaughter, Jaqueline Wagner of Douglass, KS; great-grandchildren, Tiffany J. Stauffer of Wilson, WI and Timothy J. Stauffer of Dubuque, IA.

Earl is preceded in death by 6 siblings and wife, Edna.

Private graveside service was held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kansas.
