Doris Larue Kerchner, 85, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 in Wichita.

Doris was born on June 6, 1937 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, to George and Sarah (Harrison) Opfer.

Doris was united in marriage to John W.E. Kerchner Sr. on October 2, 1954. They were married for 31 years and 10 day until John's passing in October 12, 1985.

Doris worked as a caretaker for a couple different nursing homes in her life. The most recent one being, Newton Presbyterian Manor. Doris enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, camping and fishing, she loved playing country music with her family, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Old Time Fiddlers. Doris was also a lifetime member of the Kastan-Uveges VFW Auxiliary 7632 in Elizabeth, PA.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Vannessa and husband Don Lehmkuhl, of Simi Valley, California, Nelda and husband Ray Darwin of Augusta, Kansas, Sarah Moreno of Herington, Kansas; brother, Ralph and wife Jan Opfer of Riverview, Michigan; 12 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grand child; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sons, John Kerchner Jr. and George Scott Kerchner; grandson, Joseph Kerchner; brothers, Theodore Opfer, John Opfer, Howard Opfer, and Harry Opfer; sister Luella Opfer.

Services will be in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. Date and time are pending.
