Obituary

Donald B. Tener, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in Wichita, KS.

Don was born on June 22, 1935 in Lyons, KS to Ansel and Lillian (Murry) Tener. He was married on June 2, 1956 to Janice (Battershell) Tener and to Carol Barr on March 31, 2007. He graduated from Lyons (KS) High School as well as from Wichita State University.

Don loved his Lord Jesus, his family, and his church families, with his last two churches being Riverlawn Christian Church and Haverhill Christian Church. Upon retirement after a long career as a CPA, he was an active volunteer at Botanica, the Wichita Gardens. He received Botanica's Garden Star award in 2015 for his long-term volunteer service. In Don's own words: "I have been double-blessed by God. He gave me not one, but two very special women to be my wife. First, Janice for 48 years, and then Carol (15 years) and her family." He loved traveling and enjoyed attending grandchildren and great grandchildren's school and sporting events.

Don is survived by Carol Barr of the home, daughter Monique Tener of Orlando, FL, son Brent (Stacy) Tener of Brentwood, TN, grandson Mitchell Tener of Arlington, TX, and grandson Bryson Tener of Athens, GA. He is also survived by Carol's son Rodney (Tracy) Barr, daughter Debra (Richard) Slavik, granddaughter Jessica (Rhett) Mallon, grandson Braxton Barr, granddaughter Jovonne Barr, granddaughter Jadyn Barr, great-granddaughter Gentry Mallon, great-grandson Beau Mallon and great-granddaughter Rosella Barr. In addition, he is survived by Janice's loving family along with a host of friends and relatives.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Janice.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 1:30pm, Haverhill Christian Church, 10275 SW Haverhill Rd, Augusta, KS 67010.

The family requests no flowers, and that memorials on behalf of Don be made to Botanica or to Haverhill Christian Church, with any donation to benefit youth programs
