Obituary

Lipscomb, Dolores Irene (Simmons), 83, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Lakepoint of Augusta.

Dolores was born February 23, 1927 to Jacob and Faune (Reeves) Simmons in Wichita. She married John Richard "Dick" Lipscomb on June 22, 1946 in Wichita. Dolores was a homemaker who loved to play cards and was very active in her church, St. James Catholic Church. She participated in the Altar Society, Harvest House and Outlook Club. Dolores and Dick enjoyed traveling until his health failed. Dolores loved her grandchildren and was affectionately called "granny".

She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Phyllis Carr.

Survivors include her sons Richard
(Georgiann) Lipscomb of Rose Hill; Dennis (Pam) Lipscomb of Augusta; daughters, Jeanne (Fred) Brooks of Wichita; Dana (Ed) Pavey of Valley Center; Michele (Jim) Schaefer of Springfield, Missouri; brother Keith (Marjorie) Simmons of Rose Hill; brother-in-law, Bob Carr of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Rosary at the funeral home Monday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 Belmont, Augusta, on Tuesday, December 7, at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado, Kansas.

Memorials designated to Amedisys Hospice or St. James Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
