Augusta - Charles Wesley Winter, 82, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016.

Charles was born on September 28, 1933, to George and Rachel (Lipps) Winter in Lehigh, Kansas. He attended Virgil High School. He later attended college at Emporia State. Charles married Kay Murphy on June 14, 1980 in Augusta, Kansas. Charles had served time in the U.S. Army. Charles had worked as a water well driller. He loved woodworking and gardening. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and spending time with his grandkids.

Charles is survived by his wife Kay; sons Dale Winter, Ernie Winter and wife Lisa, and Shawn Winter all of Augusta, KS; grandchildren Jonah, Caleb, Grace, Ariel and KC; brothers Lavern Winter of Virgil, KS, Don Winter and wife Bert of Augusta, KS; sisters Dorothy Thompson and husband Jim of Wellsville, KS, Barbara Coyners of Wichita, KS, and Delores of Phoenix, AZ.

Charles was preceded in death by parents, brothers Orwin and Marvin Winter, sisters Erma Tomlinson and Norma Lowke.

Viewing will be Thursday, March 31st from 1:00-6:00p.m. Visitation with family present from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Dunsford Chapel in Augusta, KS. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1st at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Augusta, KS. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, Kansas.
