Charlene L. Canedy, loving mother and wife passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025. At the age of eighty-seven years. On this day, heaven and our Lord Jesus received another angel.

In the year 1937 on September the second, Charlene Louise Evans (Canedy) emerged into this world in Blackwell, Oklahoma from the loving bond of her mother, Bertha Lea (Hackler) Evans and her father, Sherman Edgar Evans. Charlene and her two older sisters and younger brother grew up as kids in Blackwell and Braman, Oklahoma, and Winfield, KS over the years after her birth. Charlene attended high school and graduated from Winfield High School with the Class Of 1955.

After graduation between 1955 and 1962, Charlene moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked for Safeway Grocery Stores. While working there, she was introduced by a co-worker to John A. Canedy to attend a social gathering. From this initial introduction the two began dating and eventually married on June 2, 1963. From this loving union, Charlene and John brought forth their two sons, David E. Canedy on November 20th, 1966, and Craig E. Canedy on June 25th, 1968. The family moved from the house from the initial location in Wichita, Kansas into Butler County, west of Augusta, Kansas. Additionally, while being a mother of two boys, Charlene also took on jobs outside the home with H&R Block as a tax preparer, then as a paraprofessional in the Butler County school district at Robinson Elementary School working with children in the EMT classrooms and volunteering as an assistant at several Special Olympic track and field events throughout her years of work as a paraprofessional. After retiring as a paraprofessional, Charlene worked several more years as a receptionist and administrative assistant at an insurance agent's office in Augusta, Kansas.

Charlene officially retired from the working population at around sixty-five years of age. Charlene along with John immensely loved the time which they spent taking care of her grandchildren throughout all the phases of childhood while their parents worked full-time jobs. This included many school events or simply picking them up from school and keeping them company while waiting for their parents to arrive home. When Charlene was not spending time with the grandchildren, her greatest passion was doing research of the family history for both sides of the family, followed by crocheting, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and reading romance novels for relaxation. Charlene's humorous personality especially peaked when a family member or friend would reach fifty years of age, she would always send a birthday card that always had the statement of "How does it feel to be a half-century old?".

The holy union of Charlene and John Canedy was 61 years plus at the time of her passing but will always be considered as eternal bond by her entire family.

Charlene leaves behind her husband; sons, David Canedy, and Craig Canedy; sister, Dorothy Hill; grandchildren, Matthew Canedy and Kayla Canedy.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Evans; and sister, Nancy Fetters.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 7th at Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

A separate graveside internment service will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens located at 1806 N. Oliver Street, Wichita, KS 67208 on January 13th at 10 a.m. for those wishing to attend.
