Obituary

Carol Etta Bell, 81, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Carol was born on Friday, January 23, 1942 in El Dorado, Kansas to Scott and Mary Etta (Beck) Johnson. She graduated from Augusta High in 1961. Carol was united in marriage to J.D. Bell on December 18, 1992. They were married for 30 years until her passing.

Carol worked many jobs throughout her life. Notedly, she worked in a brace and limb shop, worked the PX at Lawton. Took care of baby engineers for AT&T, and quietly managed offices in the background. She also worked at running science fiction conventions. Helping organize art shows, panels, setting up merchandise rooms, and selling memberships. She really, really liked media conventions. Particularly British ones. Blakes 7, Doctor Who, and The Prisoner. When she wasn't working the convention, she was enjoying the "Fillk Room". Her totem spirit was the Panda. KingKing dePanda. He was with her forty years. Most of all she loved her husband and daughters very much.

Carol is survived by her husband J.D.; daughter, Kimber Etta Chessmore; stepdaughters, Helen and husband Michael Chastain, Megan Bell and Kelby, and husband Kelley White; 3 grandchildren, Lawrence Timothy Chessmore, Evangeline Lily Chastain and Bennett Carter Chastain; and brother Miles Johnson.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents.
